Mark Farrell serves as a Managing Director at Thayer Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm with a strategic focus on the travel and transportation industry, which he co-founded in 2009. He leads the firm’s transportation investments, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of multiple private companies.
Mr. Farrell served as the 44th Mayor of San Francisco in 2018, and prior to his election as Mayor, was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2010, and re-elected in 2014 for a second term. From 2004 to 2009 Mr. Farrell served as a Vice President in the investment banking group at Thomas Weisel Partners, and practiced law at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati from 2001 to 2004.
Mark received his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University, cum laude, M.A. from University College Dublin (Ireland), with honors, and J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, cum laude.
