Mark is a Partner at Prelude Ventures, having joined the firm in 2013. He serves on the board of directors for Benson Hill Biosystems, Boston Metal, Citrine Informatics, Holo, and Zapata Computing and actively manages the firm’s investments in Arable, Atom Computing, CoverCress, GreenLight Biosciences, Fortify, Pivot Bio, Planet Labs, polySpectra, Renew Financial, Unspun, and Zymergen.
Prior to Prelude, Mark worked with the Celanese Corporation, a Fortune 500 company specializing in advanced materials and chemicals. Mark held a number of technical roles in new product development, application development, and process design, as well as commercial roles in technical marketing and business development. He also spent time with Terawatt Ventures, the solar investment and development team at Chevron Technology Ventures, and with sustainable chemistry start-up Novomer.
Mark received a BS and MS in Chemical & Bio-molecular Engineering from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. While at Stanford, he was Co-President for the Challenge for Charity (largest MBA run non-profit organization) and won a national championship with the graduate school rugby team. Mark has authored patents and publications in a wide variety of technologies, including microelectronics, engineered polymers, advanced cements, barrier coatings, pharmaceutical delivery systems, and pulp & paper additives.
