Maia Sharpley is a Partner at Learn Capital with over 15 years of experience as an education executive in private and public sector organizations. Maia has a proven track record of conceptualizing, developing, and scaling education services in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific. She has also been active in the edtech startup arena, overseeing early-stage company advisory programs and launching several businesses.
Maia was formerly EVP of innovation and strategic initiatives for Charter Schools USA and responsible for developing innovative edtech solutions and new capabilities within the organization. In prior roles, as VP for strategy and innovation with Kaplan, Inc., she led a broad range of programs and businesses, including managing the company’s edtech portfolio and administering the relationship with the TechStars-Kaplan edtech startup accelerator in NYC. She also served as executive director of operations for the New York City Department of Education, the largest public school system in the U.S. Prior to her career in education, Maia worked as a management consultant.
She is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT and earned her MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Maia is fluent in several languages and a U.S. patent holder.
